MPRIME: three deadlines before year-end

Maryland Medicaid’s new enrollment portal, MPRIME, replaced ePREP in October. Every provider needs a new MPRIME account, even if their record was preloaded. Three dates now matter:

  • November 15: out-of-state individually licensed providers who haven’t updated their record in MPRIME will be suspended automatically.
  • December 1: suspended providers whose termination was deferred will be terminated automatically if they haven’t made the required updates in MPRIME.
  • December 31: newly enrolling providers who file a complete application in MPRIME by this date can receive a backdated enrollment effective date.

Applications denied during the transition need a new application in MPRIME.

New behavioral health services require pre-application training

DBHDS now requires mandatory pre-application training before providers apply for the new behavioral health services under Virginia’s Behavioral Health Redesign. New applicants must complete the Initial Applicant Orientation and pass the proctored exam first. Licensed providers adding one of these services through a modification must also complete the training.

Initial applications submitted without the orientation or the mandatory training will be rejected.

CARF’s 2026 behavioral health standards are in effect

CARF’s 2026 Behavioral Health Standards Manual applies to surveys held from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027. If your survey falls in that window, prepare against the 2026 standards, not an older manual.
